Case
Example case: how a Utrecht SEO agency took a hair salon from invisible to #1 in ChatGPT
Top of Google Maps, yet never named when someone asked ChatGPT for a hairdresser. This is how the agency found the cause, and how it fixed it in three months.
EXAMPLE This is an example case. The agency, the salon and the numbers are invented to show how the measurement works; the screens are mock-ups.
Step 1
The problem
First on Maps, invisible in ChatGPT
The salon ranked first on Google Maps for "kapper Utrecht" (hairdresser Utrecht): first place at 38 of the 49 grid points, with well over two hundred reviews. Even so, fewer new customers came in than the year before.
The agency asked ChatGPT the same question ten times: "What is the best hairdresser in Utrecht?" The salon was not named once. Three competitors that ranked lower on Maps did appear.
Step 2
The diagnosis
Which sources does ChatGPT read, and where is the salon missing?
Using mystreetwise, the agency looked at the sources ChatGPT itself cited in those answers. Two stood out: Treatwell, cited 14 times in 30 answers, and a local city blog with a list of the best hairdressers, cited 9 times.
Both sources only appeared next to answers that named competitors. The salon's Treatwell profile was half finished under a shorter name, and the salon was not on the blog. On top of that, Treatwell said "open" on Mondays, while the Business Profile said "closed".
Step 3
The action plan
Three actions, no new website
One: completed the Treatwell profile with exactly the same name as on Google, all treatments with prices, and asked regular customers to leave a review there too.
Two: emailed the writer of the city blog a short description, photos and what makes the salon different. Three: aligned the opening hours on the Business Profile, the website and Treatwell, including public holidays.
Step 4
The result
After three months: named 8 of 10 times
Three months later, the agency asked the same question every day again. The salon was named in 8 of the 10 answers, and first in 6 of them. Treatwell and the blog now also appeared next to answers that named the salon.
The AI weather report read "Brightening up": the score rose by more than ten points and the answer only changed now and then. That is the sentence the agency sends the owner, with the report attached.
